What DoWriteEditing Can Do For You:
* PROOFREADING OF MANUSCRIPTS - correction of typographical, grammatical, and spelling errors
* COPYEDITING - correction of typographical, grammatical, and spelling errors, and basic style (not content)
* CONTENT/DEVELOPMENTAL EDITING - the kind of work traditionally done by publishing company editors; enhancement of structure, flow, and continuity (some copyediting/proofreading will be done, but is not the main emphasis)
* PRODUCTION PROOFREADING - second readings of manuscripts; checking of designer and printer proofs
* WRITING - projects large and small
How It Happens:
* I prefer to work with manuscripts that are Word files, either e-mailed or sent on a disk. Once your project is complete, I return two versions of the manuscript to you—one with changes tracked in Word and the other with all changes accepted.
* Fees for proofreading, copyediting, and content/developmental editing are typically based on the word count of your submitted manuscript. Fees for production proofreading and writing projects are charged on a per hour basis.
* I am willing to proofread/edit a small sample of your manuscript, so you can judge our compatibility and get an idea of how the process works. That may also allow me to better judge the length of time it would take to complete your project.
* If you decide you are interested in using my services, I e-mail you a Letter of Agreement. You print and sign two copies and send them both to me, with a check or money order for one-half the amount owed (usually number of words in submitted manuscript x per word charge). The remainder of my fee, plus any applicable sales tax and/or shipping and handling (if we do business by disk), will be due no later than ten days after I submit the completed project to you. After I receive the signed agreements and down payment, I sign both copies and return one to you—and we begin! | |
