What DoWriteEditing Can Do For You:

* PROOFREADING
OF MANUSCRIPTS - correction of typographical, grammatical, and spelling errors

* COPYEDITING - correction of typographical, grammatical, and spelling errors, and basic style (not content)

* CONTENT/DEVELOPMENTAL EDITING - the kind of work traditionally done by publishing company editors; enhancement of structure, flow, and continuity (some copyediting/proofreading will be done, but is not the main emphasis)

* WRITING - projects large and small

Why Should You Bother?

* For my best answer to that question, please read my post, "Worth Every Penny: Why Pay for Proofreading and Copyediting?" on Your Shelf Life - http://www.yourshelflife.com/?p=796.

How It Happens:

* I prefer to work with manuscripts that are Word (.doc) files, sent as e-mail attachments. Once your project is complete,
I typically return two versions of the manuscript to you—one with changes tracked in Word and the other with all changes accepted.

* Fees for proofreading and copyediting are almost always based on the word count of your submitted manuscript.
Fees for content/developmental editing may be based on word count or charged on a per hour basis, depending upon the project.
Fees for writing are always charged on a per hour basis.
I do cap the number of hours for any project charged on a per hour basis, so there are no invoice surprises.

* I am willing to edit/proofread a small sample of your manuscript, so you can judge our compatibility and get an idea of how the process works. That may also allow me better to judge the length of time it would take to complete your project.

* If you decide you are interested in using my services, I e-mail you a draft Letter of Agreement.
When we are both satisfied with the letter, you print and sign two copies and send them both to me, with a check or money order for one-half the estimated amount owed.
The remainder of my fee, including any applicable sales tax, will be due no later than ten days after I submit the completed project to you.
After I receive the signed agreements and down payment,
I sign both copies and return one to you—and we officially begin!
